How to stop Yahoo being the default search engine in the Firefox address bar, and get Google back

Get Google back.

So if you type a search term into the address bar in Firefox, which search engine does it use?
Well somehow, sometime, somewhere mine swapped to Yahoo, and I couldn't find out how to get it back to Google. So I found out (thanks to Robert Stocks) how to "fix" it on my PC, so it uses Google instead.

  1. Go to Firefox - Help - Troubleshooting information option.
  2. Change the word "support" in the address bar to "config"
  3. Read the message and promise to be careful
  4. Search for "keyword.URL" and see if there is any information in the Values column?
  5. My version had blurb about yahoo, so if you right click and Modify, remove everything so the value is blank, and click OK.
  6. Hey presto, fixed.
  7. Be happy and just a little bit smug!

Web Matrix and Windows Azure

One of my colleagues has just given me a demonstration of how the new cloud hosting platform "Azure" from Microsoft is integrated with Web Matrix (also from Microsoft). I have to admit I was left fairly astounded at the simplicity of the interfaces, and the ease of use.

If you are looking to set up new websites, and hosting and be able to scale the hosting up and down to meet your requirements, seasonal changes etc then this combination of Matrix and Azure would be one I would give very serious consideration to.

The new Web Matrix is so slick and easy, you really only are a few clicks away from creating websites, installing CMS, template sites etc. and integrating them seamlessly with Azure for publishing and hosting.
